The Tayyib Lab is a student-led initiative designed to empower 9th-standard students to look beyond "Halal" certification and embrace the Quranic mandate of Tayyib (wholesomeness and purity). While many modern snacks are permissible (Halal), the project argues they often fail the Tayyib test due to harmful additives, excessive sugar, and synthetic chemicals that violate the Amanah (sacred trust) of bodily health. Key Components Scientific Investigation: The project utilizes live demonstrations—such as dye extraction from spicy chips and "sugar mountain" visualizations—to expose the health risks of popular ultra-processed snacks. The Tayyib Scorecard: A comprehensive rating system was developed to evaluate snacks based on ingredients, sweeteners, fats, and packaging sustainability. Digital Innovation: A QR Code System was implemented to help users decode complex E-numbers, find "Sunnah Swaps" (healthy alternatives), and track community impact. Sustainable Solutions: The project introduced 'NURISH', a rebranded line of traditional foods like dates and walnuts, designed with modern aesthetics to make wholesome eating aspirational for Gen Z. Results and Impact The initiative successfully increased student awareness of Tayyib principles by 68%, with 42% of peers committing to daily healthy behavior changes and an 85% engagement rate with their digital resources. Ultimately, the project frames healthy eating as an act of Ibadah (worship), bridging ancient Islamic wisdom with modern food science
